Carnic Alps

The Carnic Alps are a range of the Southern Limestone Alps at the borders of East Tyrol, Carinthia and Friuli. They extend from east to west for about 100 km between the rivers Drava, Gail and Tagliamento. The most important peaks are:

Monte Cavallo2.251 m (7.386 feet)
Monte Peralba2.691 m (8.829 feet)

The chief passes of Carnic Alps are:
Oefnerjoch (Forno Avoltri to St Lorenzen in the Gail Valley), foot path 2.301 m(7.550 feet)
Wolayer Pass (same to Mauthen), foot path 1.922 m(6.306 feet)
Plcken Pass (Tolmezzo to Mauthen), bridle path 1.360 m(4.462 feet)
