Cao Yu

Cao Yu (曹禺, pinyin: co yǔ) (1910-1996) is a Chinese dramatist, often regarded as China's most important in the 20th century. It is largely through the efforts of Cao Yu that the modern Chinese huaju ("spoken theatre", as opposed to sung Chinese opera) took root in 20th-century Chinese literature.
