Canada House

Canada House is a building located in Trafalgar Square, London. It is the home of the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom. As well as containing the offices of the High Commissioner, the building also hosts the Canadian consulate in London, and the Canada House Gallery, a cultural centre for the promotion of Canadian culture. Canada House was built between 1824 and 1827 by Sir Robert Smirke, who designed the British Museum. It was originally used by the Union Club and the Royal College of Physicians. The Canadian government acquired the site for use as a High Commission in 1923. The building under went restoration work in 1993, and was officially reopened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1996.
