Campsie Fells
The
Campsie Fells
are a range of
hills
in central
Scotland
, stretching east to west, from south
Stirlingshire
to
East Dunbartonshire
. The highest point in the range is
Earls Seat
which is 578
m
(1897
feet
) tall.
Erosion
along the line of a
geological fault
known as the Campsie Fault has left tiers of rock representing some 30
lava
flows which date from the
Carboniferous
period. The headwaters of the
River Kelvin
, which flows through the west end of
Glasgow
, rise in the Campsie Fells.
