Campsie Fells

The Campsie Fells are a range of hills in central Scotland, stretching east to west, from south Stirlingshire to East Dunbartonshire. The highest point in the range is Earls Seat which is 578m (1897 feet) tall. Erosion along the line of a geological fault known as the Campsie Fault has left tiers of rock representing some 30 lava flows which date from the Carboniferous period. The headwaters of the River Kelvin, which flows through the west end of Glasgow, rise in the Campsie Fells.
