Calvin Smith

Calvin Smith (born January 8, 1961) is a former sprint athlete from the United States of America. Calvin ran under the shadow of the great Carl Lewis for most of his athletics career but still achieved 2 individual World Championship gold medals and in 1983 broke the 100 metre World Record at Colorado Springs, Colorado on July 3 with a time of 9.93 seconds. 1983 also saw Calvin became the first athlete to run under 10 seconds (9.97) for the 100 metres and under 20 seconds (19.99) for the 200m in the same evening in Zurich, Switzerland.
