Calvin Simon

Calvin Simon (born May 22, 1942 in Beckley, West Virginia) was a member of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic. He originally began as one of the Parliaments, a doo wop barbershop quintet alongside George Clinton. Along with Fuzzy Haskins and Grady Thomas, Simon released an album called Connections and Disconnections, using the name "Funkadelic" after leaving the rest of the group due to financial and personal disputes with Clinton. The group only released the one album under the name Funkadelic, before changing labels. Other names used in the years to follow would include "The Original P". Calvin Simon now records under his own label, Simon Says Records and released a new CD in June 2004 called Share the News, which reached #32 on the "Billboard" Top Gospel Albums chart.
