Button Plan

The Button Plan was a plan by the government of Australia in the 1980s to develop the country's motor industry, which took its name from the the federal Minister for Commerce Trade and Industry Senator John Button. Although it sought to increase consumer choice and greater competition, by cutting import tariffs, it was best remembered for the badge engineering that resulted in local manufacturers sharing models.
