Bus IreannBus ireann, or Irish Bus, provides bus services in Ireland outside Dublin. Bus ireann, established in 1987, is a subsidiary of Cras Iompair ireann. The logo of Bus ireann is a red Irish Setter, a breed of dog. Busras - Central Bus Station, a much hated and a much loved structure, is located in Dublin. Cork bus station perhaps once took the award for Bus ireann's most badly planned, dirtiest and ugliest terminus, but as of 2004 the building is in the process of being remodelled as part of the city's preparation for being European Capital of Culture, 2005. It now sports a more modern face, with properly organised bus bays and a sensible layout of services. Bus ireann main services in Ireland, and in Northern Ireland in association with Ulsterbus, include: "expressway" (i.e. intercity), commuter, local and school services. Additional services within Ireland include city services in Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford and town services in Athlone, Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan and Sligo. External services to Britain and Europe are also provided via the ports at Dublin, Dn Laoghaire and Rosslare Europort via the Eurolines system. Bus ireann's fleet have been substatially invested in as part of the National Development Plan. The vast majority of the operating fleet for "expressway", commuter and local services are now 5 years old or less. The fleet for "school" services is significantly older and consists of buses cascaded from other work as well as secondhand buses imported from the United Kingdom. See Also External links
