Bundesliga

The Bundesliga (plural: -ligen) (translation: federal league) is the name for the premier league of any sport in Austria and Germany. Used on its own, Bundesliga usually refers to Germany's highest football league. The Bundesligen are, in Germany and Austria, the elite sporting competitions (leagues) in a given sport. Among other sports, this term is used in football (soccer), handball, basketball, field hockey, rugby, and ice hockey. Usually, the Bundesliga determines the German champions (and/or Austrian champions). Below the elite division there are, depending upon the organization of the given sport, 2nd Bundesligas (second division) or regional leagues.
