Brum

Brum is a municipality in the county of Akershus, Norway. Brum is located on the coast, west of Oslo. Sandvika is the administrative centre of Brum. Located just to the west of the Oslo, Brum is in many respects regarded as a suburb. Many technology oriented companies are located at Lysaker and Fornebu. Built-up areas such as Slependen, Sandvika, Kolss, Hvik, Lysaker, Stabekk, Bekkestua, Haslum, Hosle, Eiksmarka, and sters can be said to have grown together with Oslo. However, they are not typically urban districts in the strictest sense. Although Brum is in many eyes regarded as a prototypical affluent suburb to Oslo, Brum certainly has a history and identity of its own. Its history includes iron industry embodied in Brums Jernverk founded in the 1700s. Brum has got a lot of outlying field, such as Krokskogen in Lommedalen. Brum has two stone churches from the 1100's. The Henie-Onstad Art Centre, founded by Sonja Henie and her husband Niels Onstad is an well-known art museum and architectural center located at Hvikodden. A local football team, Stabk I.F., played in the Norwegian premier league (2004), but were relegated at the end of the season.
