Bruck An Der Mur

Bruck an der Mur is a city in the Austrian province of Styria. It is located at the confluence of the Mur and Mrz Rivers. The city has 13 439 Inhabitants. The area is 38.40 square kilometers. It was founded in 1263 by King Otakar II of Bohemia. Bruck an der Mur was a important medieval trade center. There is a 15th century Gothic church in the city. In the Center you can see the famous Kornmesserhouse, a building in venetian style, built by Pankraz Kornmess in 15th century. There's also the iron well with its famous lace-like dome. There was the castle of Landskron too, wich burned down in the great fire of 1792. After that fire just two of 166 houses kept standig. Near Bruck is a relaxing area, called Weitental. Every August is a well-known artist and clown-festival called Murenschalk.
