Brother (Movie)

Brother is a 2001 film starring, written, and directed by Japanese filmmaker Kitano Takeshi. Shot in Los Angeles, California, Kitano played a deposed Tokyo yakuza setting up a drug empire in Los Angeles with the aid of local gangster Denny, played by Omar Epps. At the time of release it was hyped as Kitano Takeshi's vehicle for 'breaking into' the United States market. The film was a critical flop and did poorly at the box office, seemingly relegating Kitano to the smaller U.S. foreign film market.
