British Vii Corps

VII Corps was formed in the United Kingdom during mid-1940 to control field forces deployed to counter the invasion threat of that year. It was disbanded in December 1940 when the threat of invasion had somewhat dissipated. Later in the war it was reformed as a nominal unit for deception purposes, taking part in the effort to fool the Germans that the British Army was larger than in reality. It was disbanded from this role late in the war.
