Bridgewater, Tasmania, Australia, is Hobart's northern-most suburb on the eastern shore of the Derwent River. It is part of the local government area of Municipality of Brighton. Bridgewater, along with Gagebrook, is one of the lowest socio-economic areas of Hobart, with (on average) high unemployment, high crime, and a low average household age. It is the first part of Hobart visitors from the north of the state pass through when arriving in Hobart via the Midlands Highway. It is connected to the western shore via the Bridgewater Causeway. The major commercial area is the Cove Hill Shopping Centre. Bridgewater has both a primary, and a high school (which includes a school farm).
