Brian Michael Bendis

Brian Michael Bendis (he often signs his artwork with a simple "BENDIS!" and is also known as BMB) is an American comic book writer and erstwhile artist. He is best known for his prolific work as writer on Marvel Comics series such as Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, Alias, The Pulse, and the creator-owned Powers, which was originally published by Image Comics before becoming the first title in Marvel's creator owned division Icon Comics in 2004. Along with Scottish writer Mark Millar and Marvel's then-publisher Bill Jemas he is largely responsible for creating the Ultimate Marvel imprint, which reinvents Marvel's library of characters for a new audience without the associated baggage of decades of continuity and history. Bendis's creation of Alias also launched the MAX imprint. Before starting work with Marvel in the late 1990s, Bendis both wrote and drew much of his work for small publishers. This work includes Fire, Goldfish and Jinx. Bendis was a friend of fellow comic book creator David Mack before either was famous; Mack helped Bendis to land a position at Marvel. He is currently writing a screenplay for a Jinx movie which is set to star Charlize Theron.
