Brandir

Brandir is a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. Brandir was a First Age lord of the Haladin that dwelt in the forest of Brethil north of Doriath. He was born in 467 F.A. to Handir and Beldis, a woman of the House of Bor. He was lame, apparently from birth, which however did not prevent him from leading his people successfully in guerilla warfare against the Orcs. When Trin Turambar arrived in Brethil, Brandir was opposed to him and suspected he would bring misfortune on the community. Later Brandir also accepted Nienor, whom he secretly fell in love with. During Trin's foray to kill Glaurung, Brandir observed the drama from afar and overheard Glaurung telling Nienor who she really was. He reported this later to Trin, who disbelieved him and killed him in anger.
