BorseleBorsele is a municipality in the southwestern Netherlands on Zuid-Beveland. The name of the municipality is spelled with a single s; the name of the eponymous village is spelled with double s. In Borssele there is a nuclear power plant with a pressurized water reactor (PWR); the net output is 452 MWe. It is the only nuclear power plant operational for electricity production in the Netherlands. There are plans for closing it down in 2013. Part of the deal is that the radioactive waste (i.e. the products of the reprocessing which are not useful) are taken back by the Netherlands. They are stored at the COVRA. The Central Organization for Radioactive Waste (COVRA), also at Borssele, is the national storage facility for all radioactive wastes. It is a surface facility suitable for the next 100 years.
