Borden is named for Gail Borden, Jr., businessman, publisher, surveyor, and inventor of condensed milk. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,347 km² (906 mi²). 2,328 km² (899 mi²) of it is land and 19 km² (7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.80% water.
