Bolton is a town in the Greater Manchester urban area in England, and traditionally part of Lancashire. It is the largest settlement in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. At the last count, in around 2000, the town is home to over 280,000 people. It is the second largest town in the U.K, coming just after Carlisle. On February 13, 2003, Bolton was granted Fairtrade Town status.
