Bill SnyderBill Snyder (October 7, 1939) is the head football coach for Kansas State University. A native of St Joseph, Missouri, Snyder is a 1963 graduate of William Jewell College where he played defensive back (3 letters) from 1959 to 1962. Snyder went on to earn his M.A. at Eastern New Mexico University in 1965. After ten years as an offensive coach for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, he became head coach of the Kansas State University Wildcats in 1989 where he has coached up through the present 2004 season. After 15 years at K-State Snyder has a total record of 127-55-1 to become the all-time winningest Wildcat football coach. He has led Kansas State to eleven consecutive bowl games, including six wins. In 2003 Snyder was named to the Board of Trustees of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). Recognized as the National Coach of the Year by the Associated Press, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, and was awarded the Bear Bryant Award and the Bobby Dodd Foundation Award as the coach of the year in 1998. Coach Snyder has been selected by the Associated Press as the Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year three times (1990, '91 and '93), joining Bob Devaney as the only two men in Big Eight history to be named Coach of the Year three times in a four-year period.
