The Big Four of Thrash are four influential Thrash metal bands that are often considered to be the best, most commercially successful, and influential Thrash metal bands. The term "Big Four of Thrash" is primarily used in the United States. The Big Four of Thrash are: Before Slayer achieved mainstream success with the 1986 album Reign in Blood, San Francisco quintet Testament held Slayer's place in the Big Four of Thrash. Testament are the biggest thrash metal band never to reach the platinum plateau, yet some still believe that they belong to be categorized in the "Big" group of Thrash.
