Bi

Bi is a numerical prefix in Latin meaning "two." Some confusion can derive from historical uses of the "bi-" prefix, in which the "two" may be taken from either related object. An example of this is the term "biweekly", which can mean either "twice weekly" (modern reading) or "every two weeks" (historic usage). As an example of the persistence of historical usages, payrolls on a 2-week cycle are universally referred to as "biweekly payrolls". Some "bi-" words:
  • Bicycle - a two wheeled human powered conveyance.
  • Bicameral Legislature- a legislature with two chambers (lawmaking units).
  • Bifurcate - to divide into two parts.
