Bhavnagar is a town in the Gujarat state of India. Bhavnagar is also a district in the state of Gujarat.

City

Bhavnagar was founded in the 18th century by Bhav Singhji. This sprawling industrial city was founded as a port in 1743, it is still a prominent trading post for cotton products. Bhavnagar’s commercial importance is enhanced by its proximity with the Gulf of Cambay and the Arabian Sea.

The Indian Salt and Marine Research Institutes are located in Bhavnagar. Velavadar National Park is in this district. The park is noted for black bucks. Black bucks can run a speed of 90 km/h, the fastest long-distance runner among animals. The male bucks are black and white with spiral horns.
