Bewley's

Bewley's is an old Irish tea house chain, established in 1840. Currently, Bewley's produces coffee for sale worldwide and belongs to the Campbell-Bewley group. Bewley‘s use a franchise system to set up new business units, although the Campbell-Bewley group owns a number of cafes themselves. On 29 October, 2004, the Campbell-Bewley group announced the closure of its remaining Dublin city premises, the flagship Grafton Street cafe (opened 1927) and the Westmorland Street cafe. The original Bewley's, in George's Street, had been closed some years previously and converted into a successful bar and restaurant. In early December 2004, rumors http://www.businessworld.ie/livenews.htm?a=1060600;s=rollingnews.htm began to circulate in the national media (notably first in the Irish Independent) that the Insomnia chain (the largest chain of coffee shops in Ireland) is considering buying the two closed coffee shops. Bewley's Hotels are a chain of hotels using the Bewley's trademark in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
