Betty Nguyen

Betty Nguyen is a Vietnamese American news anchor.

Biography

Nguyen was born in Saigon, South Vietnam. She and her mother left Vietnam as the North Vietnamese army and Viet Cong invaded Saigon, where the South Vietnamese army was later defeated. She and her mother immigrated to the United States, moving to Texas. Nguyen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. In 1998, she anchored for KTVT in Dallas, Texas. In June 2004, Nguyen became CNN's first Vietnamese American anchor, and was awarded a regional Emmy for "Outstanding Noon Newscast".
