Benabarre

Benabarre (Catalan Benavarri) is a town of the comarca of Baja Ribagorza (Catalan Baixa Ribagora) in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. Local Ribagoran dialect is a variant of Catalan, which has some transitional traits to Aragonese. Benabarre was the historical capital of the County of Ribagorza (Catalan Ribagora), which also included the valleys of Graus and Benasque and the comarca of Alta Ribagora (capital Pont de Suert), now in the province of Lleida, Catalonia. Nowadays, the more populous towns of Graus (capital of the Aragonese comarca) and Benasque have taken preeminence over Benabarre.
