Belvros (Budapest)

Belvros (meaning inner city) in its narrow, historical sense forms the southern half of District 5 of Budapest and it is located in the very center of the city. In this sense, Belvros comprises the old town in Pest side of Budapest. The traditional shopping center of Budapest (Vci utca, i.e. Vci street, and surrounding streets) is located here. Some people say, Budapest is a very centralized city. It can be true for tourists who usually start sightseeing here. Belvros in its more usual, broader sense includes the area inside Nagykrt (the Grand Boulevard), i.e. District 5 in full (the above Belvros and Liptvros), plus the inner parts of Terzvros (District 6), Erzsbetvros (District 7), Jzsefvros (District 8), and Ferencvros (District 9).

Transportation

Budapest's three existing metro lines converge at Dek square where the blue and the red lines meet the Millennium Underground Railway. There are several bus, tram and trolleybus lines as well in this area.
