Start of the Belgrade Marathon
Belgrade Marathon is the biggest sports manifestation in Serbia and Montenegro. It started as an idea of the group of enthusiasts to restore the race that existed in 1910. from Obrenovac to Belgrade. First marathon took place May 8 1988. and track lenght was 23 km with several checkpoints. Track of Second marathon was 46.7 km long, with start and finish in front of Federal Parliament. Today, Belgrade Marathon has standard 42.195 km lenght. Considering the fact that marathon is one of distinguishing points of world biggest cities, Jugoslav Sport Society "Partizan", took upon itself to organize marathon. City Hall and its departments and communal services helped, ass well as executive bodies, Army of Serbia and Montenegro, Serbian Police, and number of sponsors. City Hall of Belgrade in September 2003. brings resolution that Belgrade Marathon is an event of special importance for city of Belgrade. Belgrade Marathon is adapted for people of all ages:
  • Kids Marathon, race for the youngest
  • Fun Run, an event with most participants (5 km)
  • Half-marathon, in accordance with world standards, for more serious racing population
  • Marathon, main event of the manifestation, for the most prepared sportsmen.
