Barendra Museum

Barendra Museum is loacted in Rajshahi, Bangladesh.

History

Barendra Museum was the first musuem to be established in Bangladesh in 1912. The museum started out as the collection for Barendra Anushandhan Samiti or Barendra Investigation Organization and got its current name in 1919. It has one of the best collections from Ancient Bengal, specially black stone statues of Buddhist and Hindu deities. The Zamindars of Rajshahi and Natore, notably Kumar Sharat Kumar Ray, donated their personal collections to Barendra Museum.
