Baji Prabhu Deshpande

Baji Prabhu Deshpande (died 1660) was a lieutenant of Shivaji, founder of the Hindu Maratha empire. He belonged to the Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu Community. He is recorded as having died heroically defending a narrow valley during the battle of Siddi Masood, allowing Shivaji to escape. He is described as a powerful warrior who wielded two swords at once. A street is named after him in Naupada City, India, and a film of his story was made in 1939. Deshpande, Baji Prabhu
