Bagrationi

Bagrationi was a Royal dynasty of Georgia in 809-1810. Family of Georgian Bagration's was arised in South Georgia, in the ancient Georgian region of Speri (part of the Georgian Principality of Tao-Klarjeti , now territory of Turkey), from the Georgian family of Bivritiani, in the 6th century AD. First representative of this family was Guaram I Bagrationi (Guaram Erismtavari of Kartli, a grandson of Vakhtang I Gorgasali - a King of Georgia from the dynasty of Georgian Parnavazian's). Ashot I the Great (Ashot I Kurapalate) was the first King from this family and founder of the Royal dynasty in 809. He ruled a kingdom of Tao-Klarjeti and died in 826, in Doliskana. His father was Adarnase Bagrationi (Erismtavari of Kartli). First King of the united Georgian Kingdom from this dynasty (888-1466) was Adarnase II (888-923). Greatest representatives of this dynasty were David the Builder, Tamar of Georgia and others. In 1204 Queen Tamar was a main founder of the Empire of Trebizond (now territory of Turkey). Last King from the dynasty of Bagrationi was a King of Imereti Solomon II (1789-1810). In 1801 by the Tsarist Russian Empire was occupied and annexed the Kingdom of Kartl-Kakheti (Eastern Georgia), in 1810 the Kingdom of Imereti (Western Georgia). The main sources of the history of the dynasty of Bagrationi include the following Georgian chronicles of the 10th - 18th centuries: Chronicle of Sumbat Davitis dze (Bagrationi) about the Bagration's of Tao-Klarjeti, "Moktsevai Kartlisai", "Tskhovreba Kartvelta Mepeta", "Matiane Kartlisa".
