Baddesley Clinton
The
moated
manor
of
Baddesley Clinton
just north of the historic town of
Warwick
in the
English
county
of
Warwickshire
was probably established sometime in the
13th century
. Large areas of the Forest of Arden were cleared and eventually converted to farmland and included the building of this large fortified manor at this time.
In
1438
,
John Brome
the
Under Treasurer
of
England
bought the manor. It then passed to his son, and then to his son's daughter, who married Sir
Edmond Ferrers
. The house remained in the ownership of the Ferrers family until
1940
when it was transferred to the
National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty
.
