Aylmer, Quebec

Aylmer is a city in western Quebec, Canada on the Ottawa River. It is located within the city limits of Gatineau. Population (2001): 36,085. In the recent election dealing with separation from Gatineau, Aylmer actually voted to separate, but since there were not enough votes actually cast, it remains part of the amalgamated city. Aylmer's population is about 50% anglophone and 50% francophone; much of its workforce commutes across the river to Ottawa.
