Aube Aube is a dpartement in the northeastern part of France named after the Aube River. History Aube was one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790. It was created from part of the former province of Champagne. Geography The department is part of the current region of Champagne-Ardenne. It is surrounded by the departments of Marne, Haute-Marne, Cte-d'Or, Yonne, and Seine-et-Marne. The geography, with its chalky soil and undulating plain, is well adapted to wine-growing, particulary the champagne that takes its name from the region.
