AstakosAstakos was an ancient city near modern-day Izmit, Turkey, see Astakos (ancient city) and another Astakos had a son named Melanippus Astakos (Greek: Αστακός), Latin: Astacos or Astacus is a community and a municipality located in the eastern part of the Ionian Sea but small hills does not overlook most of the islands. The place was founded in the ancient times. It is located on a road linking Agios Nikolaos and GR-5 near Messolonghi slightly east of Aitoliko. In the Byzantine Era, the town was known as Dragamesti.
