Assault On Precinct 13 (1976 Movie)

Assault on Precinct 13 is a 1976 action/thriller movie, directed by John Carpenter. It is an homage to the 1959 film Rio Bravo by Howard Hanks. A remake was released in 2005, with Ethan Hawke in the title role.

Plot

Set in Los Angeles, a large, well-armed gang besieges Precinct 13, an almost abandoned police station that is in the process of being closed down. The gang is seeking revenge on a man who killed several gang members after the accidental killing of his daughter. The distraught man had wandered into the precinct, making everyone in the building a target. The few officers in the building are forced to release the prisoners and join forces with them in order to survive, against superior numbers and weaponry. Tagline: L.A.'s deadliest street gang just declared war on the cops.

The "ice cream scene"

One of the more infamous scenes in the movie is where a little girl is shot by a thug after complaining about the flavor of her ice cream. The MPAA threatened to give an X-rating if the scene wasn't cut. Carpenter complied, but distributed the original version with the scene intact anyway.
