The total area is 2.27% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,449 people, 932 households, and 624 families residing in the town. The population density is 26.5/km² (68.7/mi²). There are 1,160 housing units at an average density of 12.6 persons/km² (32.5 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.04% White, 0.24% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.04% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 932 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 33.0% are non-families. 26.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.17.
