Angela Hewitt

Angela Hewitt is a Canadian pianist. Her father was the cathedral organist in Ottawa, and her first recital was in the Royal Conservatory in Toronto at the age of nine. She studied at the Toronto Conservatory from 1964 to 1973. She was placed first in the Viotti competition in 1978 and in 1985 she won the Toronto International Bach piano competition. She has performed around the globe as a soloist with many renown orchestras and has performed on many recordings. In 1994, the Hyperion record label signed her to record all the keyboard music of Bach, a project that will eventually span 14 discs. Since 1985 she has lived in London.
