Anand (Town)

Anand is a town and a district in Gujarat, India.

City

Anand is known as the milk capital of India. It became famous for Amul dairy and it's milk revolution. This town hosts the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of India. Anand lies between Ahmedabad and Vadodara and is a major railway stop on this line.

District

Anand district was carved out of the Kheda district in 1997. Anand town is the administrative headquarters of this district. It is surrounded by Kheda (North), Vadodara (East), and Ahmedabad (West) districts. To the south is the Gulf of Cambay.

  • Karamsad - birthplace of Sardar Patel.
  • Dakor - Hindu temple of Lord Ranchodrai a form of Krishna.
  • Pavagadh Fort - Ruins of the fort, now a world heritage site by UNESCO.
