American Sociological Association

The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905, is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the discipline and profession of sociology by serving sociologists in their work and promoting their contributions to the public good. The ASA holds annual meetings and publishes several academic journals including American Sociological Review and Sociological Theory. With a membership of nearly 14,000 professors, students, researchers and practitioners, the ASA is the largest association of professional sociologists in the world.
