Ambler, PennsylvaniaAmbler is a borough located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 6,426. Geography Ambler is located at 40°9'18" North, 75°13'13" West (40.155099, -75.220160). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.2 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.2 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 6,426 people, 2,510 households, and 1,598 families residing in the borough. The population density is 2,953.7/km² (7,605.8/mi²). There are 2,605 housing units at an average density of 1,197.4/km² (3,083.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 83.29% White, 12.03% African American, 0.25% Native American, 2.47% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.50% from other races, and 1.40% from two or more races. 2.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,510 households out of which 29.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.7% are married couples living together, 13.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.3% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.08. In the borough the population is spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 86.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.8 males. The median income for a household in the borough is $47,014, and the median income for a family is $51,235. Males have a median income of $40,305 versus $30,735 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $21,688. 5.5% of the population and 2.4% of families are below the poverty line.
