Amara Essy

Amara Essy (born December 20 1944) is an Cte d'Ivoire diplomat. He was born in the town of Bowke, in Ivory Coast. He served as the president of the United Nations General Assembly from 1994 to 1995. He also served as the foreign minister of Ivory Coast from 1990 until 2000. In 2001 he became secretary-general of the Organization of African Unity and served in that position until July 2002 when that organization became the African Union. He then served as interim chairman of the commission of the African Union until 2003. Essy, Amara
