Altona, Hamburg
Altona
is the westernmost district of the city of
Hamburg
in
Germany
. It was founded in
1535
as a village of fishermen. In
1664
it received the city right from the Danish king
Frederick III
. In
1867
it became part of
Prussia
. In
1938
the Greater Hamburg Act merged it and several surrounding cities with Hamburg.
