Geography to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²). None of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 459 people, 189 households, and 126 families residing in the village. The population density is 172.1/km² (445.2/mi²). There are 199 housing units at an average density of 74.6 persons/km² (193.0 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.30% White, 0.22% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 2.61% from other races, and 0.22% from two or more races. 7.19% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 189 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% are married couples living together, 13.2% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 33.3% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 3.00. In the village the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
