Alfie MoonAlfie Moon is a character played by (Shane Richie) in the British soap opera EastEnders. Personality Alfie Moon is your ordinary, cheeky Cockney chappie who is good at having a laugh with his mates and dispensing advice to any person who needs him. He tends to put on a front and doesn't let people see his true emotions as he doesn't want to upset anyone. Alfie Moon is also well known for his catchphrase "Shut up, you muppet" and his loud shirts. First Episode Alfie Moon was introduced to Eastenders on 21 November 2002. He makes his entrance to Albert Square by being chucked off the London Underground and soon causes havoc in the marketplace by getting (Winston) to give him a refund on a video he stole and tricks (Martin Fowler) into giving him some free fruit. He also lies to (Ricky Butcher) in the cafe about needing a mechanic for his car. He pretends to have left his wallet at home and leaves Ricky to pay for Alfie's bill. After acquainting himself with a few of the Squares residents, he sneaks into the Queen Vic and helps himself to a drink behind the bar. (Peggy Mitchell) appears and instantly jumps to the conclusion that Alfie is the new Queen Vic manager, Chris Wright. Alfie takes this incorrect opportunity and adopts Chris's personality. Peggy leaves and Alfie begins to take any stock he can find and puts them inside in a binbag. (Jim Branning) catches him and assumes that Alfie is throwing away outdated stock. He gives Jim a free pint after being tricked by one of Jim's lies. Winston, Martin, Ricky and (Sam Mitchell) soon arrive and find that Alfie has been feeding them all different background stories. However, Alfie manages to worm his way out of the tricky situation by trying to intertwine all of their stories together. Later, Alfie gives advice to Martin on how to woo his girlfriend, (Alison). The episode ends with Alfie being phoned up by the real Chris Wright. He tells Chris that the position is no longer his and hangs up, making it pretty clear that he is there to stay! Alfie's Family (Spencer Moon) (November 2002 - January 2005) - Alfie's younger brother played by (Chris Parker) (Nana Moon) (December 2002 - present) - Alfie's grandmother played by (Hilda Braid) (Jake Moon) (December 2004 - present) - Alfie's second cousin played by (Joel Beckett) (Danny Moon) (December 2004 - present) - Alfie's second cousin played by (Jake Maskall) (Maxwell Moon) (briefly appears now and then) - Alfie's second cousin played by (Andrew Paul) Alfie's past Alfie's parents died when he was young in a car crash. He was in his early adult years at the time and he took on the responsibility of looking after his younger brother, Spencer and his grandmother, Victoria (widely known as Nana). He moved Spencer and Nana into the Queen Vic after he got settled in. His parents died on (Shrove Tuesday) and the Moon family have decided to commemorate their death every year this particular holiday comes around. Parts of Alfie's past are much more murkier though. He was arrested for credit card fraud and spent 3 years in prison. Upon his arrival in the Square, Alfie had to deal with his parole officer by pretending she was an ex-girlfriend as he didn't want the truth to be revealed. He also had to silence a face from his past, Dougie, an ex-bent copper who threatens to reveal Alfie's true identity if his demands are not met. However, Alfie was unable to meet Dougie's demands and he left Walford with his family. Dougie took pleasure in revealing Alfie's identity to Peggy and also tells her that Alfie has thieved the pub's takings. She soon receives them back though as Alfie delivers them to her doorstop. Peggy manages to track Alfie down and after filling her in on the details of his parents death decided to give him another chance. Alfie reluctantly accepted her proposal and his bad past was left behind him. Kat Alfie and Kat were very much attracted to each other ever since they started working together behind the Queen Vic. Kat admired his cheeky, kind personality while Alfie admired her honest, 'tart with a heart' personality. During the summer of 2003, both characters admitted their true feelings for one another and they shared many doomed romantic nights together. Both of them decided to call it a day much to their upset and Kat soon found solace in the arms of the slick gangster, (Andy Hunter). It was only when Kat and Andy announced their marriage to the punters of the Queen Vic that Alfie realised his true feelings for her. On the couple's wedding day, Alfie stormed into the church and announced that he loved Kat and would not let her marry Andy. After a long chat with Kat and a scrap with Andy, Kat chose Alfie and they left the church together, leaving Andy fuming and heartbroken. The pair got married on Christmas Day 2003 and Alfie hired his cousin, Maxwell to bring a snow machine for Kat. Nana During Alfie and Kat's dating period, Nana began to develop (hydrocephalus) which is commonly known as 'water on the brain'. Her mental state began to deteriorate and Alfie was very concerned about her and was reduced to tears on several occasions. He managed to get her an appointment with the doctor and an operation ensued reverting Nana back to her normal self. Alfie also became very concerned for Nana when she returned from her holiday with a man called (Wilfred Atkins). They announced to Alfie that they were getting married and on their wedding day, it soon transpired that Wilfred was a con artist. Alfie forced Wilfred to confess to Nana and had to watch her grandmother's heart break while he confessed to stealing her deceased husband's war medals. Alfie and Kat's traumatic marriage Alfie and Kat were in for a rocky ride in 2004. Andy Hunter returned to the Square, badly beaten and the pair took him under their wing as a kind of apology. Alfie was facing financial problems due to his wedding costs and asked Andy for some money. Andy gave him the money but Alfie soon found out that Andy wanted to be repaid. Andy began to increase his demands and raised the money repayments frequently. Alfie was forced to tell Kat about his problems and she helped Alfie raise the cash. However, Andy soon made it clear to Kat that he was not interested in the money - only her. Making a big decision, Kat decided to sleep with Andy in order to pay off Alfie's increasing debt. Alfie arrived shortly after and Kat hid while Andy accepted the money Alfie had scrounged together. However, it did not end there. Andy secretly filmed them doing the dirty deed and handed the videotape to Alfie, claiming it was a good film that he wanted Alfie to watch. Alfie viewed the video and was distraught and disgusted by what his wife had done. After much emotional trauma, Kat departed from Alfie in November 2004, after Alfie had found out that Kat had slept with another man. She left no clues to her whereabouts and remains to be seen. Life after Kat After Kat left Walford, Alfie and his family were thrown out of the Queen Vic after (Den Watts) cunningly tricked Sam into signing it over to him. Alfie and Spencer were forced to live in one of (Ian Beale)'s chipvans and Nana was offered a home at the Slaters. His troubles were furthered by the arrival of his dodgy cousins, Jake and Danny Moon on New Years Eve 2004. Alfie was forced to send Spencer to Maxwell's house after Danny got his brother accidentally arrested for breaking and entering. Gangster, (Johnny Allen) also appeared looking for the two Moon cousins and reassured Alfie that it was nothing to do with him. Alfie also discovered that Nana had been assaulted due to Jake and Danny picking a fight with Andy. This left him worried over Nana's mental state as she became afraid to leave the house but she seems to have recovered as of now. In February 2005, Alfie got his new market stall trashed by Andy Hunter. He punched Andy on the night of the gangster's death but not before Andy got him in a headlock and confessed that he loved Kat. There have been some good points though. Alfie managed to get a market stall selling knocked off goods and Jake and Danny managed to persuade Johnny to let them all become lodgers in his new house. There has also been a relationship blossoming between Alfie and (Little Mo Mitchell) but will he want her when Kat returns? Moon, Alfie
