Alan Rusbridger

Alan Rusbridger (born 1953) has been editor of The Guardian since 1995. He was previously a reporter, columnist, features editor and deputy editor of The Guardian. He worked for The Observer, and as Washington Editor of the London Daily News before returning to The Guardian in 1987. He is a member of the main board of the Guardian Media Group and of the Scott Trust, which owns The Guardian, and is executive editor of The Observer. Disparaging remarks he made about the discipline prompted Gordon Marshall to write In Praise of Sociology (1990).
