Al-jabr Wa-al-muqabilah

Al-Jabr wa-al-Muqabilah (Arabic: Integration and Equality) is the name of a important mathematical book, written approximately 820 AD by the Persian scholar al-Khwarizmi. Alludes to the systematic method developed in the Islamic Empire for solving linear and quadratic equations. The name is one of the sources of the English word algebra, a study developed in large part from this text.
