Air Seychelles

right Air Seychelles is the national airline of Seychelles, an island nation in the Indian Ocean just to the east of Tanzania. The airline was started in 1978 as a domestic airline, and then started international routes in 1983 to Frankfurt and London.

2005 News

In the wake of the December 2004 tsunami Air Seychelles reduced schedules to the Maldives. The Mahe to Mal service was cut from two to one weekly flight and the connecting Mahe to Johannesburg service from four to three weekly flights (ref: Airliner World, March 2005). Air Seychelles will return its leased Boeing 737-700 to International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) in April 2005 following rationalisation of the route network. The fleet will reduce to 2 Boeing 767s, 1 Shorts 360 and 2 Twin Otters (ref: Airliner World, April 2005)
