History

Air Algerie started life in 1947 as Socit Algrienne de Construction Aronautique (SACA)-Air Algrie. In 1953 it merged with the Compagnie Air Transport to form Compagnie Gnrale de Transports Ariens (CGTA)-Air Algrie. In 1962 the company become Air Algrie (Entreprise Nationale d'Exploitation des Services Ariens) and was nationalised in 1972.
