Ahlul Bayt

This is an Arabic phrase literally translated as "People of the House", or family. In the Islamic tradition, the Ahlul Bayt, or Ahl-e-Bayth, are the progeny of the Prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatima's marriage with his cousin Ali resulting in their children Hasan and Hussein. Shiites believe that a Imamate goes in succession through the lineage Ahlul Bayt.
